ebalta developed the duranity casting compound together with a group of independent climbing hold manufacturers. The vision: to make climbing holds sustainable while offering variety and quality. duranity is a casting resin made from ECO-friendly polyurethane. It consists of approximately 40 percent raw materials from renewable sources and is suitable for climbing holds that comply with DIN EN12572-3:2017. The environmentally friendly PU casting resin is certified as a climate-neutral product through CO2 offsetting.

The sustainable climbing hold casting resin is characterised by high abrasion resistance, ensuring that the hold lasts a long time. In addition, individual and even sophisticated design ideas can be implemented very easily. The PU casting resin allows for thin wall thicknesses. This saves material and reduces costs. In addition, our experienced employees are available to advise customers: from the initial idea to mould construction and series production.

The ebalta team can be pleased with the excellent results of this year’s anonymous survey of its German customers: satisfaction with ebalta was rated with an overall score of 4.5 (out of 5). Criteria included the quality and user-friendliness of the products, service and speed of delivery. The support and performance provided by our employees even received a score of 4.7 (out of 5). Both scores were higher than the results of the last survey in 2022.

In personal comments, customers thanked the ebalta team and praised the high quality of the products, the reliable and fast delivery, and the flexibility, solution-oriented approach and friendliness of the service.

Tailor-made, innovative solutions, same-day shipping of ordered goods, and personal support and advice are ebalta’s great strengths. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and employs around 130 people at its Rothenburg ob der Tauber location.

ebaboard polyurethane boards from ebalta Kunststoff GmbH are not only used in production, but also in direct processing as inspection models, data control or master models for design applications. Due to their dense surface and very fine structure, ebaboard PU boards for design can be processed very well and subsequently finished very easily.

The result is high-quality design models, master models or foundry patterns. This is demonstrated by our German customer Korek Werkzeugtechnik GmbH & Co. KG who chose the ebaboard 0400 and ebaboard 0800 to complete some high quality automotive test gauges. The boards are very easy to machine and provided the high quality surface finish demanded by the end customer.

The ebaboard polyurethane boards for design with matching adhesives and repair putties are available in the standard dimensions 1500 x 500 x 30/50/75/100/150/200 mm.

Dieter Möslein experienced and shaped the development of ebalta

Dieter Möslein recently celebrated his 40th anniversary at ebalta Kunststoff GmbH. This makes him the longest-serving employee at the Rothenburg-based company, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. ebalta Managing Director Andre Neutzler congratulated him and thanked him for his commitment: ‘When I joined the company in 1997, Dieter Möslein was one of my most important contacts. His knowledge and experience are invaluable – that was true then and is still true today.’

Dieter Möslein studied plastics technology and began his ebalta career on 1 April 1985 as an application engineer. Today, he is responsible for product management and international business. Why has he stayed with ebalta for so long? ‘I like the informal working atmosphere, the appreciation I receive for my work and the freedom to make decisions,’ he says. Dieter Möslein has experienced and helped shape ebalta’s major developments and growth. He still remembers well how he poured the first bag of filler into the mixer together with Hermann Schieber, ebalta’s Managing Director at the time – back when ebalta started to produce plastics itself instead of just trading in them. Other highlights for him are the establishment of the foreign agencies and, as a result, the many positive and personal contacts with people from different countries: Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Norway and Indonesia, to name but a few.

Dieter Möslein will retire this summer. He is looking forward to this next stage of his life with respect, but without melancholy: ‘I will certainly miss ebalta, but a younger generation will take over my tasks, and everything will be in good hands with them.’

March 12 saw the first duranity demonstration day in the UK. duranity is the eco-friendly polyurethane casting compound from ebalta that was specially developed for climbing holds. The in-house exhibition was organised by Roger Freeman, Regional Sales Manager of ebalta Distribution Limited, the UK distribution partner of ebalta Kunststoff GmbH. The event took place at the headquarters of moulding machine manufacturer 2KM UK Limited in Bromsgrove, south of Birmingham, and showcased ebalta duranity materials for both hand and machine moulding.

It was a unique opportunity for potential new customers to get hands on with both the material and the processing equipment and see how easy it is to produce high quality, eco-friendly climbing holds from duranity in ebalta silicone moulds.

One such potential customer was Tom Booth from Renegade Climbing, who said: ‘It’s a great opportunity to see how easily the duranity materials can be processed through a dispensing machine. The results were first class.’ Tom had originally met the duranity team at the Vertical Pro show in Friedrichshafen in November. During the demonstration day at 2KM, he was able to deepen his knowledge and experience the moulding of climbing holds live.

The innovative duranity and duranity flex moulding compounds were developed by ebalta together with allHOLDS, a network of independent climbing hold manufacturers. They are made from eco-friendly polyurethane, consist of over 40 per cent renewable raw materials and are certified as a climate-neutral product.
